WHAT IS A BLEPHAROPLASTY?
A blepharoplasty, commonly referred to as eyelid surgery, removes excess fat and skin from the upper and lower eyelids to give the eyes a more rested and youthful appearance. This procedure may also improve vision in patients with excess upper eyelid skin that hangs down over the eyelashes, partially blocking the peripheral vision. The blepharoplasty procedure can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Many patients choose to combine this procedure with a facelift or a brow lift for more dramatic facial rejuvenation results.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY LIKE AFTER A BLEPHAROPLASTY?
After a blepharoplasty, some patients experience mild to moderate amounts of temporary bruising, swelling, difficulty opening the eyes, or blurred vision. These symptoms usually resolve within a few hours. The initial recovery period lasts between one to two weeks, during which time patients will need to take time off of work and other activities to ensure a smooth recovery.
ARE THE RESULTS FROM A BLEPHAROPLASTY PERMANENT?
The results from your blepharoplasty will be permanent, so patients can enjoy a more youthful appearance that will last for years to come. However, eyelid surgery cannot prevent future changes from occurring in the eyelids due to the natural aging process. We encourage patients to maintain healthy lifestyle habits in order to make their results last as long as possible.
