WHAT IS A BLEPHAROPLASTY?

A blepharoplasty, commonly referred to as eyelid surgery, removes excess fat and skin from the upper and lower eyelids to give the eyes a more rested and youthful appearance. This procedure may also improve vision in patients with excess upper eyelid skin that hangs down over the eyelashes, partially blocking the peripheral vision. The blepharoplasty procedure can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Many patients choose to combine this procedure with a facelift or a brow lift for more dramatic facial rejuvenation results.

HOW MUCH DOES A BLEPHAROPLASTY COST?

The cost of your blepharoplasty at Eko Plastic Surgery will vary depending on the treatment plan we develop for you. During your consultation, Dr. Eko will discuss your cosmetic goals and treatment needs in order to determine the treatment approach that best suits you. For this reason, we will not be able to provide you with the exact cost of your treatment until you had the chance to come in and discuss your treatment goals with Dr. Eko.

WHAT IS THE BLEPHAROPLASTY PROCEDURE LIKE?

During a blepharoplasty, which is performed under general anesthesia or sedation, an incision is made in the natural eyelid creases or just below the lashes. Through these incisions, excess fat and skin are removed or repositioned. The incisions are then closed, resulting in scars that are well concealed in the natural folds of the eyelids.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY LIKE AFTER A BLEPHAROPLASTY?

After a blepharoplasty, some patients experience mild to moderate amounts of temporary bruising, swelling, difficulty opening the eyes, or blurred vision. These symptoms usually resolve within a few hours. The initial recovery period lasts between one to two weeks, during which time patients will need to take time off of work and other activities to ensure a smooth recovery.

ARE THE RESULTS FROM A BLEPHAROPLASTY PERMANENT?

The results from your blepharoplasty will be permanent, so patients can enjoy a more youthful appearance that will last for years to come. However, eyelid surgery cannot prevent future changes from occurring in the eyelids due to the natural aging process. We encourage patients to maintain healthy lifestyle habits in order to make their results last as long as possible.

  I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my plastic surgeon and his entire team. From my very first surgery, I have received outstanding care, professionalism, and kindness every step of the way.
He placed my tissue expanders and carefully prepared my body for radiation treatment. After one of my radiation sessions, one of my expanders was accidentally punctured.
