Breast Reduction in Palm Desert, CA

If you experience pain, discomfort, or self-consciousness due to the size of the breasts, you may want to consider a breast reduction at Eko Plastic Surgery. We are proud to offer this procedure to the residents of Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, CA and surrounding areas.

What is a Breast Reduction?

A breast reduction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat, tissue, and skin to create lighter, better-proportioned breasts. Having breasts that are too large can result in back, shoulder, and neck pain. It can also make it difficult to participate in exercise and other activities, interfering with the ability to live a healthy lifestyle. With a breast lift, patients can enhance the proportions of the body for improved comfort, confidence and quality of life.

How Much Does a Breast Reduction Cost?

The cost of your breast reduction at Eko Plastic Surgery will vary depending on the treatment plan that we develop for you. During your consultation, we will discuss your cosmetic goals and treatment needs in order to determine the treatment approach that will be ideal for you. For this reason, we will not be able to provide you with the cost of your treatment until you have the chance to come in and discuss your treatment goals with Dr. Eko.

What is the Breast Reduction Procedure Like?

A traditional breast reduction requires making an anchor-shaped incision down the middle of the breast or a keyhole incision around the areola. This approach reduces breast volume while elevating the breast to a more normal location, improves contour, and preserves breast sensation. An alternative “short scar” method, effective on women with moderately large breasts, involves making an incision around the areola and vertically down the breast. This reduces scarring, creates a rounder, more natural outcome, and offers superior results for good candidates. Through these incisions, excess skin and fat will be removed in order to reshape and resize the breasts. Liposuction may be used to facilitate fat removal. During this process, the nipples can also be repositioned or resized so that they sit naturally in the center of the breasts. This procedure is typically conducted on an outpatient basis.

What is the Recovery Like After a Breast Reduction?

After surgery, most patients experience pain and swelling for a few days, followed by occasional aching in the breasts for about two weeks. While results of the surgery are immediate, it may take up to a year for the new breasts to settle into their new size and shape. Patients often have to take time away from work and other activities in order to ensure a smooth recovery. Exercise and other strenuous activities may have to be avoided for a month or longer after your procedure.

Are the Results from a Breast Reduction Permanent?

A breast lift removes skin and fat to produce permanent results. However, you may still notice gradual changes in the breasts over the years due to the natural aging process. It is important to note that weight gain can also affect the size of the breasts.
